Daisy
When my wife, Sarah, and I decided to take on the responsibility of “doggy parenting” we knew decisively that we wanted to adopt a rescue dog. In mid-December of 2008 we ventured to the Metro Kennel and ran across the only dog in the room with a smile. Once Sarah locked eyes on this relaxed and loveable rat terrier her mind was made up that we had to get her out of the cage. That little rattie lit up like a firecracker when we got her into the play room. She was so full of life and when she wasn’t chasing and tugging on the available toys she was contently nestling between the two of us.
It didn’t take long to know that DSA0499999, she wasn’t named at the time, was the dog for us. We named her Daisy out of the combination of DSA and the letter 9, which represents “I” in the alphabet. Metro had her spayed and fully vaccinated and we were able to pick her up on December 17th. The vet guessed that she was about six years old, but her youthful tenacity and pep always keeps us guessing.
We were raised around dogs throughout childhood, but Daisy holds a special place in our life. She is the first dog we have owned as a married couple and the first one that we have been fully responsible for training. She is incredibly intelligent and she has so much energy. Thanks to her under bite, which is a rare condition for a rat terrier, she almost always wears a smile.
I was excited when Daisy was named “Pet of the Month”. We have known how awesome she is for quite some time now and it is great to have the opportunity to brag about her. Thanks to Crossroads for taking such good care of her and offering the much needed play time that she deserves. Terri would be glad to tell you that she is an active one. Most of all, thanks to Daisy. She brings a ray of sunshine into our toughest days. WE LOVE YOU DAISY!!
